Because if everything could be done right the first time,
we would not need to learn
Acquiring knowledge is the first step in a learning process, but without more,
the results would be uncertain.
We need to change our knowledge into skill and ensure that this ability is grounded on practice and testing.
Learning design is not limited to the conception of instructional presentations. A significant part of the skill in learning design is based on the conception of simulation exercises enabling users to practise and test all possible combinations in any scenario.
All types of simulation are possible, - the simulation of equipment, task sequences, chain reactions or a combination of events.
The difficulty of designing and programming a simulator is linked to the diversity and accuracy of the situations generated and, even more so, to the analysis of the situations initiated by users, in order to correct errors and acquire best practices.
